Summertime

Although the astronomical summer already a few weeks there is, we haven’t noticed anything. Our weather could very well be the same as during the Spring, or even Autumn. Yesterday, I’ve been witnessing quite some downpoor here at nieuwegein, and we will not even start about last Monday…

The one thing that reminds us of the fact it should be nice out there is the life outside, and last Friday I found quite a nice example of that.

If anyone knows what species this is, please post a comment.

Update: Some research showed me that it is in fact the most common butterfly in Europe!
We Dutchies know it as an “Atalanta“, in English speaking countries they know it as a “Red Admiral“.
The latin name is “Vanessa atalanta“, which makes absolutely no sense to me at all.
Below a nice picture which is not made by me.

A Spam-milestone!

However small my blog might be, I too am involved in fighting spam each and every day.

My first line of defense in the ever-lasting battle against spam is Akismet, the WordPress built-in anti-spam plugin (when I’m to say plugin, when it is already built in…), and today a milestone has been reached!
*start drumroll*
100 spam-posts have been stopped, and none of us all have been noticing a thing!

Therefore, big yay for Akismet and the people over at WP for creating this wonderful piece of coding. You have saved me, and many others may I presume, a very hefty amount of sifting through the comments. However my 100 comments are but a mere few compared to the (literally) millions of spams seen each day, but I’m chuffed with their absence nonetheless.

Acceptance

Today has been a big day in my, so far very short, career.

My internship has been approved! I will be busy writing my masterthesis at Ordina, a leading company when talking about SOA and SOA-integration. My job is to write a thesis which not only will grant me a degree at my university, but one that will satisfy the need at Ordina for certain knowledge.
So far, I’m still trying to find an optimal subject for me to write about.

I’m currently still debating, continuing with a longlist of 9 subjects. I will narrow it down to about 2 or 3 subjects to make my final decision. Also, I found myself a thesis-supervisor at the university, mr. Guah. He will be responsible for the approval of my thesis, and support me when needed.

These two combined make up a great week for me, I hope it’ll be like this for quite some time.

Still studying

While my last post was not so very long ago, it has been a little while nonetheless, and I’d like to update you all with my current occupations.

As my very last exam is approaching quite fast, I’m really busy studying to get it all done. So, that’ll be it for now. After the exam all’s yet unclear, I will keep you posted.
