Android's great! It's very easy to work with once you get accustomed to the non-Nokia quirks.
With myself being a very long time Nokia-addict it's hard to get used to something else, as Nokia-logic has ground deep canyons in my daily phone use.

The touchscreen is one of the better I've handled, and can easily compete with the iPhones out there. One thing that is less well excecuted is the touchpad, which I only like when the phone is in landscape mode. BTW: haptic feedback on button-press is way cool!

Furthermore, the phone does feel a little sluggish or underpowered when browsing the web with more than one tab open at the same time. Also, as the phone 'only' has 288MB of RAM (of which there's about 160 available to programs/apps) the performance could be improved by adding more. (I know, this is a hardware change, but still)

About it's apparent beta-status: Android certainly does not feel and/or behave like so. It really feels like a well thought through, and evenly well excecuted, OS. It cannot rival with the blistering speed of iPhoneOS (28 sec startup time for the iPhone versus well over 60 seconds for my Hero), but it's not too far away in speed while regularly using it.

There however is one major drawback: it's not iPhoneOS. Therefore, there's no such thing as the App-store or iTunes. The Android market does have 40K or so applications listed, but it's not the mature platform that iTunes and the Appstore for the iPhone are.

Oh well, at least it supports tethering. :-)
(Oh, and multitouch on most applications. No, not all as my Android 1.5 that is shipped with the Hero does not support it. HTC has created their own GUI on top of the regular Android GUI called Sense, which adds multitouch to the phone. It's a real blast!

White would be way cool ^_^ although a bit of an apple-ripoff. But how's Android? Pleasure to use or obviously still in development? And internet connectivity? Fast enough?

Plenty people with us are currently trying to persuade management and ICT to switch to macbooks and iphones. Heh. Couldn't say I'd mind, at the very least they're better than my old Latitude 810 and Nokia E50 (not to mention my, privately owned, Nokia 6060, which is like, bronze spearpoint when measured in phone years :) ) ^_^

Heh, meh @ blogpost-title. :)

My company doesn't do that sort of thing for employees like me. I'm not being paid enough to be granted an 'advanced phone', so this one's purchased privately.
I absolutely love it!

BTW: I went out and got me the brown version, white is waaaaay out of my league...

Yeah, too bad you used the title 'All new and shiny' in your last blog, isn't it?

Did you get it yourself or was it company-funded?

Hi there Timmey, I know Chrome as well, and have been giving it a try on several machines as well, yet it cannot convince me as much as my trusty Fx has done.
Call me chauvinist, but Fx still wins, even though I'm not entirely sure why. (i.e.: I'm indifferent. :-) )

Not to be the wiseguy, but have you tried Chrome yet? Especially the beta 4, which since recently has extensions (I especially love feedly, although that of course is not something exclusive to Chrome).

However, I'll have to give Fx3.6 a try as well ^_^ I am, of course, admin on my own laptop, but customer tend to have IE6 or 7 only. The horror of IE6 really never ceases to amaze me. Why people put up with it I have no idea...

Yes, the only requirement is that 'it does not hinder my productivity', which is why I am not using linux as desktop OS at work ;)

I saw in the meuktracker that there are actually no changes between the windows versions of FF RC1 and 2. Still, I'll just wait until there is a production version. Probably in the next month or so :)

*envy* So you can just clear the entire PC and install your own OS?
Well, that's not going to happen on the machines I have access to. ;-)

RC2 is out, and there've been few changes, at least none I could find on the RC1 -> RC2 change on windows.

At work, I am luckily administrator of my own PC and even running Windows 7 as of a few weeks ago :D

Still a happy FF user, even though I agree it could use some less memory. Not really having performance issues otherwise. But ... if FF3.6 is in RC stage, that means the real release is imminent, nice! :)
