A new day, a new lay

"Goed voorbeeld doet volgen" is a well known Dutch saying; a good example encourages to be copied. How true this is, is perfectly illustrated by me migrating from my old theme to this brand new one, inspired as I am by Guy who has been using it ever since he started his blog. The theme is called Mandigo, is made

New gear

It became pretty apparent during the last few city-tours and visits to popular destinations: walking around with your dSLR in a shoulderbag and the rest in a backpack is, let’s say, suboptimal. Therefore, I’ve ben on the lookout for a combination of the two: a backpack which would be large enough to it my camera + lenses + more, and

WordPress plugin botching

Ever since I started using computers, I’ve been trying to improve the programs I’ve been using. The main reason for me to start programming Java, C# and PHP is the very same, and after me blogging with WordPress it has not changed a bit. I got tired of the regular tinyMCE-editor which is built in to the blogging software, and

This year is a festive year for the Rotterdam Zoo, it is established back in 1857. This year they celebrate their 150th birthday with events occurring all over the place. New enclosures for old

Adding to the fun

And here I am, comfortably sitting inside, sipping my coffee and looking out to see nothing but rainy and stormy weather. I have to admit: I am privileged enough to appreciate these circumstances. I could do worse. Gathering research data goes rather well, currently I’m gathering and comparing definitions of what a portal is, and summing up similarities. These will

Scripting FTW!

When you are busy creating your thesis, it is vital to have at least one "offline" backup, and preferable more on different locations. I’m already putting in several extra methods of making sure my data will be available, no matter what. The first line of defense would be having a SVN-repository enabling me to have a versioning-system for all documents.
